I just got this email from the President of the Hereditary Angioedema Foundation, the group that deals with my swelly disease:
Dear HAE Friends,
Today, Lev Pharmaceuticals, one of the company’s
working to get a HAE therapy approved in the US,
reported positive clinical trial results for their
double nano filtered C1 inhibitor product.
These results are worth noting, because Lev is the
first company conducting US trials to sucessfully
achieve a clinical endpoint (essential for getting FDA
approval) in a phase 3 pivotal trial.
The company plans to submit its application for a
license sometime in the next few months. Given the
strength of the data reported in the press release,
and the expedited review promised by the FDA, it is
conceivable that a C1 inhibitor product will be
available by the end of year.
Lev’s press release entitled, “Lev Pharmaceuticals
Reports Positive Results in Pivotal Phase III Trial
for Hereditary Angioedema” can be found at the
Warmest regards to all HAE friends,
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
After almost 13 years of illness, I may be swell-free within the year.
I can’t even express how excited, and grateful, and hopeful I am.
